Toxic workplaces are the norm today. They meet the same criteria as authoritarian leadership with charismatic flying monkeys that influence leadership. The BITE model confirms toxic workplaces. Antibullying lobbyists are working hard to get anti-bullying in the workplace passed and hold leadership accountable. Many workplaces are micro authoritarian nations. I am a retired educator, and our federal agency supports toxic workplaces to maintain control. I retired after 50 years as an educator in various locations but could have continued working but decided this was not worth sacrificing my health. I am a coach who helps people in these situations. I want to specifically work more with teachers who are trapped in these micro authoritarian schools and school systems. People's minds are easily molded by these charismatic leaders or flying monkeys. I believe this is the essence of the teacher shortage today.
As someone who has studied and applied Scientology concepts to my life and in my profession since 1972, I suggest that Dr Kent’s categorization of Scientology is mistaken. I admit that from the outside, it shares what appear to be numerous characteristics of a cult, but as someone who has nearly 50 years of experience, I can say with certainty that its goals and practices are diametrically the opposite of a cult. Scientology practices result in a person who is more aware, more self determined and more responsible, not just for themselves but for all of life. Don’t take my word though, just watch interviews with others who are successful in their lives and careers who feel the same way and draw your own conclusions.
Did you watch any of the interviews before simply replying? Scientology organizations provide services that assist people to address their personal issues and become better at handling life. In that process, they are asked to confront their past actions and take responsibility. Sometimes that process becomes a challenge for the individual and instead of dealing with it, they instead resist and fail, then blame the organization to deflect having to confront their own shadows.
At the end of the day, I would judge any personal growth practice based on real outcomes, not only on complaints by people who were unsuccessful. This my invitation to you to at least get a balanced viewpoint and take a few minutes to see and hear from those for whom Scientology has been a successful tool.
