My sister was in the documentary “The Librarians” which is showing in art house theaters nationwide right now. She was the Director of Library Services in a school district in Texas and was on the front line of fighting book banning and censorship. She has been doing Q&A’s at film festivals and has to have private security, the threat is real. I would encourage everyone to check out the film and see if it’s playing in your area. It will also air on PBS I believe in January.
I worked at a library that had a powerful financial contributor who was very self righteous demanding that I pull and bin many classic novels including Fahrenheit 451, and Animal Farm. Woke is really frightening. I even saved Moby Dick. I saved many books. The radicals are out of control :/
libraries will always have a variety of people purchasing books. Their collections are bound to lean a little bit left or right in some parts of the country.
Maybe you could share this grievance with your local library board. Are you sure you were not just instructed to remove extra unneeded copies of classics? This is a normal weeding procedure.
Thanks for question. Well, at the time, I scanned the inventory and all shelved books, including digital copies, and discovered no the ones I was asked to discard were the only copies left. The board of trustees had this one unrelenting tyrant who said in no uncertain terms - she wanted to (quite literally) obliterate any reminders of the basics of western civilisation.
Im thinking, well alrighty then- I guess we must be banning books now, intriguing. I myself do not concur, however- power/control usurpers carry more say in these matters sadly. Unfortunately there is oftentimes very little (if any) logic within persons such as these, (encountered this type of psychopathology a few other times in the past) and especially in this case there simply was no bargaining for 'well a few classics couldn't hurt right?" It appears to be becoming about censorship in what used to be a liberty-loving western non-communised nation...Starts off slow and incrementally. Incredibly tragic and to be fair, 🤦🙅no longer want anything to do with it- if it carries on in this way. People ought to make a stand against this banning, censoring. Censoring extreme violence or pornography seems like an entirely different ball of wax IMO. It prevents moral corruption of youth and adults alike, I get that. But desiring to exterminate books that have taught entire generations the basics of western civ, and doing so smack dab in the middle of an eroding western civilisation, whew thats just next level lunacy, not to mention treacherous almost a war-like tactic aimed at the reading public, IMO. So.... I and others just collect the banned stuff and keep the candles burning on the narrow path to truth and liberty as best as one can. 🙂↔️🕯️
Thanks for your courage to take a stand in this area of freedom of mind & thought. I agree that many 'radicals are out of control' . Im a retired public librarian. Keep up the good work. And please continue to hold Mr. Hassan accountable here when you can as he is quite polarized in favor of certain extreme elements politically. He confuses religion and politics in some strange ways that need to be pointed out, discussed, and corrected. All the best to you.
Dean Blundell mentioned that Barron Trump is a grouper and a fan of Nick Fuentes. Isn't that interesting? Charlie Kirk's assassin seems also to be a grouper. Charlie wanted the Epstein files released tRump does not.
