Speaking Out on Protecting the Elderly and Un-Doing Radicalization
As we approach the US election, I’ve been having a busy week with media appearances everywhere!
In this week’s episode of The Influence Continuum, I spoke with Lisa Nerenberg, the founding executive director of The California Elder Justice Coalition. She now serves as the organization’s Director of Special Projects. We talked about her work as a leading voice in the fight against elder abuse and undue influence against aging adults.
This past weekend, I appeared on Trisha Goddard’s UK “Sunday Soapbox” on Talk TV and the David Pakman show; scroll down for more information on both interviews, which are linked below.
Tonight, I will appear on Robin Stern’s podcast, The Gaslight Effect. She is a leading expert on gaslighting, emotional intelligence, and women in leadership.
Tomorrow, I will be on a panel exploring Indigenous Mental Health, moderated by Anna Yuslim, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Conscious Health. You can register to view this talk on their page.
In this installment of The Influence Continuum, I sat down with Lisa Nerenberg, who has dedicated her career to ensuring dignity and justice for this vulnerable and growing population, as well as safeguarding the rights of elders. She has emerged as a leading voice in the fight against elder abuse and undue influence against aging adults. Her extensive work includes overseeing studies on conservatorship in California — known in other states as adult guardianships — and authoring influential books on elder justice. It highlights the urgent need to protect the elderly from manipulation and exploitation.

Trisha Goddard, the host of the popular Talk TV segment “Sunday Soapbox,” spoke with me about why we need to talk about radicalization and the importance of recognizing how good, intelligent people can be unduly influenced into accepting extremist viewpoints. It’s a surprisingly broad topic that touches more of our lives than you would suspect.
David Pakman sat down with me this past weekend to talk about not only the cult of Trump but how cults work, how they are different from healthy, ethical organizations, and how to reach out to your loved ones who have become indoctrinated into the MAGA worldview.
As always, please let us know what you think about these pieces or what you’d like to see us discuss in the future. Thanks so much!
