This conversation is an absolute lifeline. Monte’s journey is a testament to the raw courage it takes to not just question—but unlearn—a belief system you were groomed to serve and protect. The way she moves from indoctrination to insight, from trauma bonding to chosen belonging, from silence to art—that’s sacred work.

The part about carrying a Confederate flag keychain and being gently confronted? That right there is the blueprint for how deconstruction actually happens: relationship, not ridicule. Curiosity, not condemnation.

Monte’s voice is more than musical—it’s prophetic. She's using the very tools of her oppression (scripture, song, story) to liberate others. That’s alchemy. That’s gospel.

Grateful for this space, this truth-telling, and the hope it plants in those still trapped in similar systems.
